Being a bit of a misanthrope, images of urban decay have always attracted me, so combined with Japan, which is a country I must revisit, it’s pure gold.

I actually came across this researching retina enabled websites (notice our sharp sugarway logo above if you’re on an iPad or retina macbook), so although not an amazing piece of design the high resolution photographs are a treat to see on the correct hardware.

Anyway enough rambling from me, enjoy.

A vivid demonstration of the importance of lighting when filming. It’s amazing how she appears to change into a completely different person and emotional state.

One of our favourite artists has just released a feature film and we need to see it.

Anyone familiar with Takashi Murakami’s work will know why we are so excited about the insane visual treat we may be in for. It was premiered in LA on the 9th April, with a special LACMA showing where Takashi presented the movie with a ‘friend’ and answered questions afterwards.

Sugarway have only seen the above preview, but the film certainly made an impact with one attendee, with him walking out loudly shouting “What a piece of shit!”.

We’ll keep you posted on any opportunities to catch the film in the UK.

After initially working in print, the software design, a move into engineering and service supply to the UK retail sector, provided Andrew with valuable business experience outside of design. This required his creativity to be used in a very different, more commercial setting. Many retail focussed products and services were born under his direction, helping build Ensas into a £10m+ turnover company.

Now firmly back in the Creative industry Andrew is working with the small, but ambitiously creative team at Sugarway, leveraging his commercial experience to build on the companies already impressive output and growth

Sugarway didn’t manage to attend NAB this year however we’e been devouring all the information on new releases and updates that has been flowing out. One in particular was Blackmagic’s new £700 Pocket Cinema Camera. Feast your eyes over the spec. sheet, sounds like a great low end on ramp to great quality video.

For me the ability to record RAW (Compressed CinemaDNG after a firmware update) and have 13 stops of dynamic range are pretty amazing and this price point. I only hope they manage to deliver it on time. Many people who ordered Blackmagic’s ‘new’ camera at NAB last year have yet to, or only just received it, and now Blackmagic have released a 4K version with a full super 35 sensor. A bitter sweet day for some people?

An interesting project to help promote the iTunes release of the remastered ‘Let it Be – Naked’ album. We were tasked with reapplying some old Flash based content in a Tablet friendly HTML version plus creating some new pages and navigation. With only a week available we managed it,  just!
